Parks

There are really two main park areas on Possum Kingdom Lake.  The closest to park area to Dallas / Fort Worth (on the east side of the lake) are the Brazos River Authority (BRA) public use areas.  You can find six of these public use areas off of Park Road 36 and FM 2951 which run on the main point that extends well into Possum Kingdom Lake.  The other main park area is Possum Kingdom State Park which is located on the west side of the lake.

Brazos River Authority (BRA) Public Use Areas

There are six BRA public use park areas on the west side of the lake along Park Road 36 and FM 2951.  They each vary in amenities and uses.  There are several boat ramps located within these public use areas.  The nicer public use areas with campsites do have a fee in the busy summer time.  The remainder of the BRA public use areas are free year-round.

Possum Kingdom State Park

On the west side of the lake is Possum Kingdom State Park.  This is one of the nicest state parks in Texas.  Created in the 1930’s and 40’s, this state park is home to over 100 campsites and 6 cabins for rent.  With beautiful scenic views of Possum Kingdom Lake, this park is a must visit for anyone who loves camping and the outdoors.
